Whiskey Sour
A classic whiskey drink for the 'nostalgic' sipper:
Combine in a shaker (w/o ice*):
2 ounces bourbon (or try it with Irish Whiskey)
3/4 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
3/4 ounce simple syrup
one egg white
Shake ingredients to emulsify, then add ice and shake a second time to chill; strain into a rocks glass over a couple cubes of ice; garnish with a maraschino cherry and orange (or lemon) slice.
*shaking first without, then with ice, helps to "emulsify" the drink, which gives the sour its characteristic layer of foam when poured.
